Gwiizii ts'àt gwitàatsàh
(We Will Make it Better Award)
Gwiizii ts'àt gwitàatsàh is a scholarship for Indigenous students at the University of Alberta, created by Crystal Fraser and Sara Komarnisky and funded by 150 Acts of Reconciliation. To support this project and the student scholarship, you can continue to purchase our poster series with artwork by the talented Lianne Marie Leda Charlie.
Beginning in Fall 2020, the award is open to First Nation, Inuit, and Métis undergraduate students in any program at the University of Alberta. Selection of the award recipient will be based on: academic standing, indicated financial need, and demonstrated leadership within an Indigenous community, participation in Indigenous cultural resurgence initiatives, and/or raising awareness of Indigenous rights in the community at large.
For more information, including application instructions, please see First Peoples' House and Métis Education Foundation (MEF) Awards. Students interested in applying can do so through Beartracks and may contact the First Peoples' House Engagement Coordinator at [email protected] with questions or for more information.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this work so far. Special thank you to Agnes Mitchell for your tireless work on Dinjii Zhuh Ginjik. We love your translation of this award's name.
